Every year during the holiday season, we get such beautiful cards from friends and family, and I’ve never found a great way to display them. Sure, putting them on the mantle works, but then you can’t see them all, or some fall over.
I found an old rake in a neighbor’s trash pile. It was in pretty good shape; it just needed a good cleaning. Once I cleaned it up, I uncovered that it was a beautiful blue.
Of course, if you found a rake like this and you didn’t like the color, you could always spray paint it.
I’ve had this rake since summertime, but never quite knew what I was going to do with it. Then, it hit me (the idea, not the rake) – the tines made a perfect card holder!
I just tied a festive bow around the handle of the rake:
I’m loving gold this holiday season for some reason – not sure why, since I’ve never liked it before. I’m going with it…
After tying the bow, I just propped it against the wall next to our fireplace and put the cards in the tines.
A perfect card holder for no cost, upcycling something that would otherwise be in a landfill – my kind of solution!
And we finally have a holiday card holder I love.
