Welcome to Finish It Friday, a series I started last year but then had to stop during my school year.
Today’s Finish It project was my garage.
On Wednesday, I cleaned and put a countertop on the Re-Store cabinet and organized the back of the garage. Today, I finished the rest of the project, which ended up turning into another project…the attic. More on the attic in a minute. You’ll want to stay tuned for the attic story!
Today, I started by hanging the bikes.
I had the hooks already (got them at Target on clearance in a large pack for something like $3).
Then I put all of my smaller projects on one shelving unit.
Next to it is a cabinet with gardening supplies in it. Other projects (like old windows, e.g.) are on the floor next to the shelving (because they were too big to go on a shelf).
On the other side of the garage, my larger projects are still there, but now there’s room to move around.
There you go – much, much better!
And here’s the best part: my car fits in the garage again!
So, remember how I talked about the attic? Well, as often happens, one project turned into another.
I was putting some stuff from the garage into the attic, and decided I would need to make a little room for the stuff …which led to me exploring what was in the attic…
I got a lot of stuff out of the attic that we don’t use and aren’t going to use, and that stuff is now in my car, ready to be donated somewhere. But then I found a box labeled “Aunt Agnes’ Quilts.” Aunt Agnes is Dear Husband’s aunt, and she made quilts. I had forgotten that we had a box of them upstairs in the attic. I’m not sure that I ever even looked in the box before today.
I brought it downstairs and here’s what was in the box:
I love the bright colors!
I talked to my mother in law and she said that this quilt was made from Dear Husband’s grandmother’s dresses. How cool is that?
She MADE both of these. Aren’t they beautiful? I’m thinking the cathedral window quilt is going to go on the guest bed.
I also found a box of Dear Husband’s baseball and football trading cards from when he was a kid. My son is going to L-O-V-E that!
So, that was my Finish It Friday for today…with a bonus! A Two-Fer! Both the attic and the garage got organized and cleaned! Love it!
Have a great weekend, y’all! Happy Mothers’ Day to all the moms out there.
