Today’s project was going to be cleaning out and organizing the garage, which has become overtaken with my projects and paint and tools. My plan is to make it a workshop for me and still have storage for all our other stuff.
It has been pouring down rain here for days and we really want to be able to park a car in the garage to stay dry.
The problem? It’s 46 degrees outside (in May? Seriously?) and damp.
So the garage is going to wait for a warmer day.
Instead, I’m going to run errands, do some clean up inside, and find a new dining room table.
“But I thought your dining room was done?”
Well, it is. But Dear Husband mentioned casually, in passing, lightly, in that “oh, by the way” way the other day that the breakfast room table we’re using now (my old breakfast room table from my apartment, pre-marriage) is “not meant for reading.” In other words, it’s not big enough to read the paper while eating breakfast.
M, my little five-year-old boss, has now picked up on this and informed me she has no room to read at the breakfast table.
Then Dear Husband mentioned that an oval table would be lovely in the dining room.
So, my next project is finding an oval table. After all, Dear Husband rarely expresses opinions about our home’s furnishings or design, so when he does, I know he means it.
The quest for the oval table thus begins!
In shopping for the table, I have some rules:
1. I would prefer it to be old rather than brand new. I am a firm believer in having something old in each room of our home. Plus, I want it to have character.
2. I do not want to spend a fortune on it, but I will not buy something just because it’s a good deal. Been there, done that.
3. I would prefer it to be expandable, so that it can stay smaller day-to-day, but be big enough for family gatherings.
4. Nothing super fancy or ornate. That’s not our style, and, after all, it’s still going to be my go-to place to grade papers when the time comes.
So there you have it. That’s what I’m up to for now. Also, I need to buy dog food.
What do you have on tap for this Monday?
Thanks for stopping by, y’all!
