I was so lucky to have a beautiful Mother’s Day, filled with waffles in bed and cards and hugs. Both kids made cards for me, and I love them. So, naturally, I wanted to frame them.
The problem is that they are not standard shapes to fit in a frame. I tried an 8×10 frame, but it was too small, and the 11×14 was too big, and I didn’t have any material to make a mat.
My solution for framing oddly shaped art??
I used a frame from Ikea for this project. I painted the back board of the frame with high gloss craft paint, using a small foam roller. It took about three coats to get even coverage.
It says I’m the “best mom in the wrlde.” Awesome. Can’t beat that.
So, the next time you have oddly shaped art to frame, don’t stress about the frame size or a mat. Just pick the frame you want and paint the back board of the frame a complementary color. Easy peasy.
That’s my easy solution for framing oddly shaped art!
